Professor Valeria Mondelli is a Clinical Professor of Psychoneuroimmunology at the Institute of Psychiatry Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London and Honorary Liaison Consultant Psychiatrist at King’s College Hospital. Prof Mondelli’s research interest focuses on the interplay between physical and mental health and on the role of the interaction between immune system and the brain in the pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders, such as psychosis and depression. She has strong expertise on the role of the biological stress response in the onset of mental health disorders and she is interested in the development of personalised interventions by using biomarker strategies. Prof Mondelli is currently the co-lead of the NIHR SLaM BRC Research Theme on Psychosis and Mood Disorders. She is currently Associate Editor of the journal Brain Behaviour and Immunity, the leading scientific journal in the field of psychoneuroimmunology. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Psychoneuroimmunology Research Society (PNIRS). She has received various awards, including the BAP Senior Clinical Psychopharmacology Award by the British Association of Psychopharmacology. She has published over 200 scientific publications (Scopus H index: 59) and she is one the Highly Cited Researchers since 2020 (Clarivate, Web of Science).
