Daniela Carnevale graduated in Biological Sciences at Sapienza University of Rome in 2005 and was trained in Neuroimmunology at the Italian Institute of Health, receiving a PhD in Neuroscience in 2010. Recruited at IRCCS Neuromed, in 2012 she joined Sapienza University as Assistant Professor. Associate Professor and Head of the Research Unit of Neuro and Cardiovascular Immunology in 2018, she was appointed Professor of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine in 2020 for having won a ERC Starting Grant “SymPAtHY”. Author of more than 70 publications in highly qualified journals, Prof. Carnevale is Associate Editor of Cardiovascular Research and Editor of the Early Career Section of Hypertension. She has been Consulting Member of the Italian Ministry of Health for the Health Research (2018-2021) and she is member of the national committee of the Italian Ministry of University and Research for the eligibility to Associate and Full Professor positions (ASN 2023-2025). She received two prestigious career awards: the Paul Korner Award for Neuroscience studies in Hypertension (International Society of Hypertension) and the Mid-Career Award of the Hypertension Council of the American Heart Association. Funded by various national and international granting agencies, she received about 8-million€ in the last 10 years. Her research focuses on elucidating how the nervous system modulates the immune response involved in cardiovascular disease.
